With habitat loss, soil degradation and the popularity of non-native plants in traditional landscaping, Planted Green’s aim is to help homeowners traverse a new path for sustainability. Designs are created with native plants and beneficial native cultivars. We apply practices that conserve natural resources to every design. Clients are coached through various green practices, such as composting, rain barrels and the implementation of rain gardens. This helps keep and re-purpose all organic matter on the property. Gardens are designed with plant diversity and "green mulching" to mimic native plant communities. In this way, gardens are built to enhance wildlife habitats as well as bring beauty and texture to landscapes large and small. Planted Green sources native plants grown locally as well as from neighboring states. Gardens are amended with organic compost and locally sourced leaf mulch to build healthy soils. All stewardship is done without gas powered tools or synthetic fertilizers and teaches landowners how to "leave the leaves". We take great pride in leading clients through the process of relearning how to landscape and taking part of being the change for a greener community. All designs are unique drawings and plant combinations specific to site conditions woven together with the needs of each client. The final product is a road map for planting the garden, whether that is in-house or “do it yourself”. Each garden design is an effort to redefine beauty and showcase residential spaces as a habitat with curb appeal. All designs are comprised of ecologically beneficial perennials and woody plants with the aid of some select nativars*. In this way, we can improve soil health, reduce erosion and runoff, which ultimately reduces pollution. A native landscape is a food source and habitat for local pollinators and wildlife as well as. In general, Planted Green incorporates turf grass only to create pathways or designated areas for specific use instead of “wall to wall” carpet. Afterwards a proposal will be made including a quote for the design. Once a contract is agreed upon, an on-site inventory and analysis will be performed at no additional charge. All designs require a proper copy of the site’s Plat of Survey. The Plat of Survey is a document showing to scale your home’s footprint, property boundaries, and existing hardscaping which is presented at the closing of a home in Illinois. If you do not have your copy, it can be obtained through a variety of sources such as your lending bank, closing lawyer or real estate agent. A new one can be created by a Surveyor.
